The nursery teacher is Miss Kennedy who works with Mrs Wyllie who is one of our incredible HLTA’s and our Nursery Nurse.
Our Nursery day consists of our welcome, registration then daily calendar time. These activities are followed by our whole class carpet input next to the smartboard where we focus on learning intentions from the EYFS curriculum. Next the children have the opportunity to choose their learning independently in our indoor provision. There is access to a super, wide of learning opportunities such as the sand or water tray, small world, role play corner, writing table, making area, construction area, our reading corner including Tales Toolkit and our painting easel. Time for snack followed by choosing our learning outdoors where there is, once again, a wide range of provision for the children to interact with before storytime and then hometime for our morning children or lunchtime for those who stay.
Our afternoons follow the same programme of learning above with the children being extended if they attended the same carpet input earlier in the week.
So far our children have particularly enjoyed learning about ‘The Gruffalo’ story by Julia Donaldson. Mrs Almunshi was really impressed at our children before Christmas 2020 for their super Larry Listener skills during our quiz about another of Julia Donaldson’s super books ‘Stick Man.’ We travel through a rolling program of topics throughout the year including ‘All about me’ ‘Light and Dark’ ‘Changes’ ‘All creatures great and small’ to name a few.
